Flamingo Season in Walvis Bay: When to Go
Walvis Bay is one of the best places in southern Africa to see flamingos. They can be seen all year, but numbers change through the seasons. Here’s how to plan your visit.
Are Flamingos in Walvis Bay All Year?
Yes. Flamingos feed in the lagoon throughout the year. Their numbers rise and fall depending on the season, breeding cycles and water conditions elsewhere in southern Africa.
Where Do They Go?
Flamingos travel between wetlands across the region, including inland pans where they breed after good rains. When conditions change, many return to the coast.
